What are we all working on?

I thought I would get the ball rolling in here - plus Firefly bribed me   :P

What are we working on? I'm going to try and use the festive season to get back into writing. I'm ashamed to say it's quite a while and I've itchy fingers. Maybe I need to buy some cream  :o

I'm working on figuring out why initial posts aren't showing. I suppose this issue will soon remedy itself as each board will have an initial post and things will slide along as usual.

Did you have trouble getting this to show up on the board or did it appear just like norm's naal?

My two new things weren't showing and I had to do geeky things to get them to appear. I don't know why. Maybe I'm on Santa's naughty list.

Ooh no, it was straightforward. How strange - come on what have you done, fess up?? Have you broke it already tut tut.

Spell Chick

I very well may have.

I'm still only about a half cup of coffee into my day. Lord knows what happens before caffeine.

Oh dear! What happened? :-)

There is *verification* required on the first couple of posts. You have an answer a question or two about Shakespeare.

(The answer is in the question though. No panic required.)

What? People need clues to answer Shakespeare questions? The horror!

I'm working on returning my new office laptop - it has what is called 'intelli' touchpad mouse - which is anything but smart. All my colleagues have moved to external mouse but I refuse, I abso(insert expletive here)lutely refuse, to change the way I have worked for nearly 20 years.

I'm having a moment and I will revert to my 5 year old laptop that takes forever to boot and shut down, but the mouse and cursor do what I say, when I say.

Eeek, Jewel!! Yeah, hubby's laptop has a mind of its own. I invested in a Mac and have to say it's so much easier.

Not working on much at the moment, but the ideas are starting to circle again, like sharks around a lone swimmer.  John and Frances have followed me across, nudging that they want a new story.

Regarding technology...  Remember it's there to help you.  It's your servant, not your boss.  If the new way isn't a real improvement, then stick with the devil you know.

yes, I think this new forum will help lots of people start writing again.
Yeah, everyone used to rave about Scribus.  Me and that little programme just didn't see eye to eye. Probably me though!

Jewel

I might not be allowed to return the new devil.

I think I'll become the first BYOD employee if not.

I'm 80% through my latest novel - pushing to have it out by next March.
I'm also more than half way through another two books (for younger readers) which will hopefully be out by the end of next year, as well as a follow-up to the YA trilogy I released earlier this year. This is currently simmering inside my skull and should be out in by the end of 2019.
That will make it 14 books in less than 10 years.

PS - it's strange being a Newbie again.

Wow, Hilly, that is amazing! Well done you. Mine are all still in the bottom drawer - really need to blow the cobwebs away. Any advice on how to keep motoring?

Spell Chick

There are lots of little tricks to make yourself keep writing, but the real thing is to keep writing. Even when you don't exactly feel like it. Even when you would rather sit in the corner and just pout or perhaps whine.

Some tips are to build a pattern for your writing. Same bat time; same bat station, etc.
One idea is to leave your last sentence unfinished when you quit and then you will have a definite place to start.

Mostly, what you need is the belief that writing is important and if you want to be an author, you simply have to auth. That may be if you want to be a writer, you simply have to write. Something like that. But as in all things, consistency is key.

Whining (actually...wining) and pouting (actually bouting with my keyboard’s defective left shift key) in the corner (actually at the kitchen table), catching up with all you folks (and blokes) as a Newbie on this forum. Oh, also trying to finish up Deep Strait - Book 2 in the Charley Manner series.

Sorry for overusing parenthetical phrases. (Actually,...I am not sorry. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
