I will give it a try this year as I hope to have enough time. Anyone else on board this year?

Take care Richard

It's too many words a day for me.

I'm doing a solo-no-wri-yo.
Writing humour is the hardest thing since sliced bread.

I really want to want to do it this year, but I feel like 2020 has zapped all my energy. At the very least, I'd like to observe NANOWRIMO by writing every day during, even if I don't meet the word count.

Been there, done that. Several times. It doesn't work for me. I have this deep need to edit as I go. I can't consistently write 1667 (if I remember correctly) words a day.

I can consistently write 1000 words a day, so that's what I do. I'm currently a little over 80,000 words into my novel, and trying very hard to wrap it up before I go over the limit of 110,000 words.

Good thing I write fantasy.  :)

Targets are good, but this strikes me as a somewhat artificial target.  As if the width was everything, the quality less important.

When I was doing this as my day job, and only source of income, I always set a thousand-words-a-day target.  I didn't always meet it.  I felt then, and I still feel, it's the effort which the target encourages which is valuable rather than the word-count at the end of the day.

Still, different things work for different people.  If you find this helpful, good luck with it.

That is - and always has been - exactly my gripe with this whole Nano-thing.

I have tried a couple of times and never met the target. I thought it was working full-time and having 2 young kids, then analysing the whole thing after i came to the conclusion that it's this so-many thousand words per day hanging over my head that made me crazy. I have set myself targets in the past but NANOWRIMO seems to be for people that like the race idea of the thing. I will do it just to get me back into writing everyday. ThatOllie used to love it I think, is he still around?

Haven't heard from Thatollie for a while, V. Maybe he'll stop in before November.

I just looked it up, and this is the 21st year for NANOWRIMO.
