No, there are.  I didn't use cucumber at all.  Or excursion.  Or - oh, lots of others.  There's still plenty to go round.

Gyppo

Nice one, Jo.  Days like that add a little fillip to your writing life.

3,200 words.  Yesterday I wrote 3,200 words.  I'll repeat that for the benefit of those of you not paying attention: three thousand two hundred words.

That's a lot!

I only managed around 800 yesterday.

I've now set myself the goal of one chapter a week, and my chapters usually have something between 2500 and 3500 words. I still have to work on the worldbuilding too. Seven worlds, tons of religions... That sounds pretentious. But I don't need to develop all of them as thoroughly as the main world and religion.

It should be doable. I hope.

Of course doable.  And enjoyable (or why would we do it?).  Go for it.

Dansinger

Absolutely enjoyable. I'm alive again!

Finished the first draft of the new book.  Took a little over six months.  All the others should take another three.  I think it's OK, but ask me again in another month or so.

1626 words today. Quite a few of them were recycled, but even so. I still had to reconsider each and every one of them, so it still counts. That's 2316 words into chapter 7.

I like how well things are going now. I'm definitely getting back into the flow. Even writing blog posts comes easier these days.

The writer Paul Gallico used to talk about 'the writing muscle' and how if it was used regularly it stayed supple and could be called upon at any time, but if only used sporadically it became stiff and painful.  I would agree.

I'm not necessarily a believer in a regular target word count each day, but if I go more than a day or two without writing at all  the mental 'muscle' does indeed grow stiff.  Give it a week and my fingers no longer mesh instinctively with the keys.

I'll definitely agree as well.

I already knew this, of course, but this makes it all the more obvious.

And I upped the count by another 100+ words.  :)

And today I finally got my map done. No details yet - it's a world map after all, but it's a good start.
