And on it goes.

I just read about the charming English tradition of "telling the bees". Heard of that one?

My Gran used to talk about people doing it when someone died. Imagine this in her Yorkshire accent.  "I can't rightly see how it helps, but it'll do no 'arm."

Gran was a great believer in 'doing no harm' unless she really had to.

That's my philosophy too. Unfortunately, sometimes my temper gets the better of me and ruins it all.

I am usually too hot tempered to follow that philosophy as well. When I'm emotional or angry I tend to blurt out things I regret immediately afterwards.

I don't usually say much when I get angry, but if looks could kill, I'd be in prison for life. Several times over.

Family say I go quiet, and then icily polite.  Which is when they try to nudge me away from the unwitting fool, or step back to enjoy the show if they think he deserves what's coming.  It's very rare.

Dansinger

It's the quiet ones, like us, who are often the most dangerous. We don't bark. We bite.
And indeed, when I do fight (no physical violence needed), I'm in it to win it. I don't often need words though. My stares are usually quite sufficient.

I have an icy stare that makes grown men shake. Even very large ones. I've had to use it, but only rarely.

If I let loose with the words, all would be lost. I have a large vocabulary and a wicked twist, so when my Irish temper flares and my German ancestry raises its head, a war of words ensues and I don't lose those.

Icy stare. It's the safest way.
Imperfect Reason My thoughts, such as they are.

I'm a grown man, and not a very tall one, but icy stares do nothing to me. My gran used hers too often on me, so by the time I was... dunno... eight? nine? ten? Something like that, they'd lost their magic. And I was well on my way to perfecting mine too.   ;D

My icy stares have me behind them, which might make it ... different. And I use it rarely, so it is fresh when it shows up and icy as ever.

I use my "mean mother look" more often. It can make misbehaving children (not mine in any way) start to behave even at Walmart. It is a powerful look, but less scary than the icy one.

It can also be a "mean teacher look" or "mean cop stare" or something along those lines. Apparently, even small children are aware of the eyebrows moving in that direction.
Imperfect Reason My thoughts, such as they are.

Granda

I use my loud and commanding voice to achieve what I want.
I've been told recently (in a fb vid) that I have a voice like a commentater.
Not knowing how a tater sounds I have no idea if this is a compliment or not.

I Win btw

My heart (and the rest of me) belongs to the Northeast of England.

Spell Chick

I believe you should stand corrected. You are not winning.

I use my voice to entertain people with my singing. I've been told it's a very nice voice. That's a win for sure!

It's good to have a gift.  Sometimes it can be a hassle too, but overall it's a good thing.

Dansinger

Sure is. Right now, I also have the gift of winning.  ;)
