Is it like that room full of monkeys and typewriters?

Hasn't the existence of facebook and twitter proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the Monkeys and Typewriters theory is flawed?

Last night was Trick or Treat or Beggars Night or whatever you call dressed up kids going from house to house seeking candy.

It was an absolutely perfect night. It had threatened rain earlier in the day, but no rain fell. The skies cleared. The temperature was balmy. The kids were darling and actually said "thank you" for the most part. Many of the adults walking with the kids were also dressed up. It was a lovely evening and we got rid of all the candy! No temptations trying to make my toes fall off.

I had no spooky visitors.  The only ones I saw were visiting their granny just a few houses along.  A young girl in a witchy costume brandishing a broomstick.  Her baby sibling, literally a babe in arms, was bundled up in an orange blanket and looked like a pumpkin.

My Grandaughter's guinea pigs had their own little Halloween pumpkin lamp.  They are clearly poised, ready to leap out on intruders with a blood-curdling squeak.

Those are some darn cute pigs, Gyppo.

My daughter and her husband always get tons of visitors on Halloween night. They bought a clicker this year to get a tally, and the final count was 630!

We had just under 200 come by. Well, we ran out of candy after 188 (we each kept one piece for ourselves so the 190 pieces weren't all there). It was, technically after hours and there were still about seven pieces left when it was time to close shop, but the guys remained out there a while longer and Dick made sure the candy was all gone. What a nice man.

I now have a chest freezer, yippee! This will allow me to "plan ahead"

With the rising cost of groceries I'm only purchasing  meats that are on sale etc.

My local Asian market has their own in-house butcher team, which keeps costs down.Ive also gotten to know the fishmonger well..

I love having a second full sized refrigerator/freezer so I can buy on sale and in bulk when the prices are better. You just have to keep track of what you have in there so it doesn't go to waste.

I shall be processing a biggish batch of green beans later today, which I will bag up and freeze in individual servings.  The bigger commercial bags are usually okay, but I bought one recently which had more than its fair share of stalks and 'woody bits'.  I suspect someone was just making the weight at the end of the run.

When I do it myself I know that every bit of it will be edible.

They do like to sneak one up on you

They are usually a reliable supplier, but just occasionally they throw a spanner into the works.

I have everything ready to toss into the Crockpot first thing tomorrow morning so that when I walk in the door after my yoga class, we can sit down to a real meal. We are having stew.

I love crockpots. It's like having a personal cook. All you have to do is prep everything.

I feel so virtuous when dinner is in the crockpot by 7.15.

I learned to make sure there was wine already open. There is nothing like opening a bottle of wine at 7AM to make you rethink your life choices.
