The Rat Brooch


There was this one episode where a lady bought this rat brooch at an antique gallery. It was a 'lively' piece, and upon attaching it to her garment she noticed a slight pinch and assumed she'd poked herself. On her walk home she felt another pinch, and then another, and another, and on this dimly moonlit evening a bloodstained silhouette had begun to appear around this newly acquired brooch she was wearing.

She tore off the brooch; threw it aside and continued walking faster and faster as to be somewhat unnerved and a bit confused by all of this while at the same time accompanied by a gathering of slight sounds nearby rustling and a pitter patter of scampering which continued to unnerve her even more and more.

The sounds grew with each of her steps as an ominous mood had begun to dominate and overtake her. Her fast pace progressing to a slight run as her heart began beating faster and faster. Something so unnaturally surreal manifesting in such a short time to nearly wrap her head around it compounded with this immense fear of some unknown thing that was happening to the point that she was now completely panicked and running!!

Comments: written from recollection of a Night Gallery episode that I only saw one time as a kid. A few decades later I ended up locating and rewatching some other episodes but couldn't find that one.

The Creature and the Prophet


And although the prophet had known the creature its entire life, there came a moment in time that was experienced as a sudden rushing and flooding of feeling and emotion within the consciousness to the point of nearly debilitating.

The prophet for some reason felt great sorrow for the creature as if to understand its true nature, it's existence, and inevitable downfall. Although the knowledge contained within the prophet could also see the greater good and the reason for it.

Perhaps the prophet felt a sudden urge of guilt somehow for failing to acknowledge what appeared to be this poor and helpless creature of God, understanding and relating to it (so many years ago). A culminating abundance of emotion just waiting to be released.

The prophet though felt good for realizing his shortcomings and making amends with the creature prior to its demise which has not yet come to pass.

And it still remains unclear to the prophet though how much of all this the creature itself actually understood of what it witnessed and whether or not the circumstances themselves may have been inadvertently exaggerated as well as any other meaning unintentionally overlooked.

But in the end the prophet felt good about what had transpired, and that the entire revelation was more of a good thing in coming to terms regarding companionship with said creature of God.

The prophet reflecting upon the occasional eye contact with the creature, even somewhat prolonged at times, as if to garner some sort of understanding between the two, to be experienced by each, in its own way, of course.
