What will become of the old school writers?

Nowadays just type in a subject and presto, here's an outline for your chapters

I personally find it's an excellent source of writing prompts. So far it's given me better concret ideas than my old'writing books for dummies ' guide.

Obviously I still need to do all the work as the program isn't sentient enough to write a whole novel based off one lil prompt

Did you see that Clarkesworld was inundated with AI generated stories recently? They had to close down submissions in order to deal with the mess.

If I had to live my life again, I'd make the same mistakes, only sooner.

Wow! Thats insane!

The underlying problem is that there are educated morons out there who believe everything can be done by computers.

These are kind of brain dead lumps of semi-sentient protoplasm  who honestly believe that the world would be better run by machines.

In order for any machine to truly and convincingly replicate a human intelligence it will also need to have all the emotions, frailties, and strengths of the human psyche.

If this ever comes to pass then the AIs will be fallible like us, prone to bizarre lines of logic and personal biases.

Cold inhuman logic may be able to write 'how to' articles, a 'Letts' study notes precis of the subject matter, but not high adventure or deeply emotional stuff.

It's a tad worrying for me because apart from my scifi novels my writing leans towards the surreal. Luckily I find paying outlets for them and sold a short story to Fiction4All yesterday. But if we distinguish AI text from real writers' craft because of slight errors or bizarre context then I'm doomed!
