See bloody dogs?  There's only one thing worse than having a dog, and that's not having a dog.

Think I'd  rather shoot myself than go that far ;-)

I remember teasing Firefly with this picture, and the caption, "Does my bum look big in this?"

PS: Firefly remembers this place with some affection, but has been very busy in the real world the last few years.  But , for anyone who has wondered, she is alive and well.

Good to know.

Speaking of which, has anyone heard from Deb recently?  She seemed to be going through a miserable time, and then went quiet.  If she's dropping in from time to time, I hope she knows we're thinking of her.

Gyppo

She made a brief appearance on the tangled branch poetry site yesterday or the day before.  I'll let you know if and when I hear more.

We are connected via Farcebook...

She does pop up from time to time

Yup, the Fly is as lively and cranky as ever. Don't tell her I said that.

Quiet in here.

Has everyone died and not bothered to send a memo?

I've been doing a few things in the 'real world'.  I have to occasionally ;-)

Bones, I need a drink and maybe a pork pie.

My Thunderbird email updated itself without my permission.  perhaps it got fed up with me refusing 'the latest and greatest' new version.

They say it's a new and fresher looking interface.  They say a lot has gone on 'under the hood' to update the venerable old warhorse.

It was a sneaky update, performed whilst I was at the eye unit 'having my eyes measured' - biometric data - in prep for my op next month.

I don't like unplanned changes to a perfectly satisfactory original system, but I'll give it a few days and see if I can live with it, and if it still does all the things I want and none of the things I don't.

UPDATE:  It's growing on me already.  A few things aren't where they used to be, but it's not too confusing.

I've just posted a review on Amazon for a door bolt I purchased.  It does the job, but...

I wonder if they'll print it.  Or ask me to revise it.

=====

The bolts themselves are okay.

Sadly the crosspoint slots don't really fit any screwdriver currently known to mankind, and if you're using an electric screwdriver you'll probably mangle the heads to the point of uselessness before they're driven fully home.  Even with pre-drilled pilot holes.

At this point all you can do is work the mess loose with a pair of pliers and replace the rubbish screws with some proper ones.   Also ideally a bit longer, say 1".  If you don't happen to have suitable screws handy in your DIY cupboard you are, pun intended, rather screwed ;-)

=====

To me this is a good review.  Mentions the strengths of the product, and also offers a solution to the weaknesses.

I hate pathetic little short woodscrews.  The same sort of fragile and essentially useless fittings usually come with doorchains.  One kick or a determined shoulder to the door will will just rip them loose from the doorframe.  There's something about 'fake' security which really gets my goat ;-(  Either do it well or not at all.

My photographer friend has an amazingly solid alternative to the flimsy chain, which I saw in use when I visited her late one night

Even the Police or Customs & Excise 'Big Red Key' might need to hit it twice.

O man ooo man...

Gypo if only you'd have seen the ad posted below your post 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Easy local girls

That's what happens when ya talk about screws 🤣. Great review tho

Frank, the internet is indeed a strange place.

I still don't see any adverts using the Brave Browser.

Definite signs of Spring here, although we had a small fall of snow yesterday.  I didn't see it falling, but when I looked out of the back door there was a small patch of snow on the slabs just outside, and two tiny patches of it on my motorbike cove.

I looked at it in in some amazement, and briefly wondered if one of my neighbours had been de-frosting her freezer and flung the ice over my fence.  Unlikely, but nowhere near as unlikely as someone throwing a couple of pounds of Anthrax spores over.

Very quiet in here.  Has everyone gone away for Easter?

I've had to go into hiding 😅👀

I've spotted myself on Google's street view 👀

Yikes

Gyppo

I saw that.  A truly desperate character ;-)

Last time I looked for my place on Google it looked as if a bomb had hit it.  It was a very old picture, where most of the back gardens were still just raw soil and not all of the bungalows had a completed roof.  I guess the stack of vans in the street were the builders' vehicles.

I survived the eclipse...

I was in the partial zone so only expirienced street lights coming on at 2:45. My dog clearly didn't give a hoot. Just another long walk
