As on the old MWC forum, I'll use one thread to post about everything Crystal Lake.

For those who weren't there, or don't remember, I started my writing journey in 2008 when I joined so many of you on My Writers Circle. I learned to write, got feedback, took part in those flash challenges, got a few short stories published, and eventually went into the publishing business myself in 2012. In August of 2012 I founded Crystal Lake Publishing. In 2016 I quit my day job and became a full time work from home publisher. In 2018 I became a full time work from home dad, as well.  ;D

I won the HWA's (Horror Writers Association) Bram Stoker Award a few years ago for editing non-fiction. This year I received the company received the HWA's Specialty Press Award.

Right now we're on the verge of launching our very own magazine and comic books, which has always been a dream of mine.

Onward and upward!

Authors, it's time to start writing your August flash fiction story!

The winner will be published in one of Crystal Lake Publishing's upcoming Shallow Waters anthologies, as well as receive $20 via PayPal and an Author Spotlight on our Patreon page and in our newsletter.

Submission guidelines:
You have up to 750 words to write a flash fiction story based on the theme 'Karma is a bitch." Please submit your story in the body of an email to crystallakepub(at)gmail(dot)com. Submissions close late Sunday night. It's free to enter and you don't have to be a Crystal Lake patron.

For those not familiar with this challenge... I'll read all the submissions (normally between 20 and 50) and put the best 10 to 15 stories on the Crystal Lake Publishing Patreon page for our patrons to read and vote on. The great part is that even the popular stories that didn't win might still get published in our series of flash fiction anthologies.

If you're interested, you'll find both volumes on Amazon Kindle and Kindle Unlimited:
Shallow Waters Vol.1: http://getbook.at/SWaters1
Shallow Waters Vol.2: http://getbook.at/SWaters2

Or check out the Crystal Lake Patreon page if you're more interested in reading the stories: https://www.patreon.com/CLP

Hi, everyone.

Great being here. For those who don't know me from MWC, I started writing in 2008 with the help of so many great people here. In 2013 I started publishing Speculative Fiction books, and I just released my 63rd book today (not really mine, since I'm just the publisher). I run Crystal Lake Publishing from sunny South Africa, and quit my day job at the end of 2016. Never looked back. ;) Since then I've published, edited, and worked with some of my favorite authors/artists, including Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Clive Barker, Wes Craven, George A. Romero, Jack Ketchum, and hundreds more. Yes, I love my job.  ;)

I'll drop by when I can and will hopefully help out a few people along the way. I owe a lot to the people here.
