We say goodbye
to all things grown,
and endure the chill
of the winters' bone

And build our fires
to keep us cozy
the lot needs shoveling
so off I mosey

There's errands to run
on these icy roads
as I travel amongst

for another days' white

Night Gallery Intro



The Rat Brooch


There was this one episode where a lady bought this rat brooch at an antique gallery. It was a 'lively' piece, and upon attaching it to her garment she noticed a slight pinch and assumed she'd poked herself. On her walk home she felt another pinch, and then another, and another, and on this dimly moonlit evening a bloodstained silhouette had begun to appear around this newly acquired brooch she was wearing.

She tore off the brooch; threw it aside and continued walking faster and faster as to be somewhat unnerved and a bit confused by all of this while at the same time accompanied by a gathering of slight sounds nearby rustling and a pitter patter of scampering which continued to unnerve her even more and more.

The sounds grew with each of her steps as an ominous mood had begun to dominate and overtake her. Her fast pace progressing to a slight run as her heart began beating faster and faster. Something so unnaturally surreal manifesting in such a short time to nearly wrap her head around it compounded with this immense fear of some unknown thing that was happening to the point that she was now completely panicked and running!!

Screams and then silence...

This is a rehash of another typical writing forum thread for posts to provide a marginally better fit than the "Random Thoughts" thread.

Paying Bills Bills Bills

At times it's the mundane affairs that sidetrack me from my writing hobby, even if only sporadically. The little things do add up as well, but the big ones this year have been $525.00 for a furnace/boiler cleaning and a new mixer valve followed by $305.00 for two new front tires, but the icing on the cake was the lady at the tire shop telling me that one of my rims has an enormous crack and needs to be replaced ASAP.

So, I shopped online for rims Sunday and that's going to be another $452.00 since I likely should replace both on the front and not just one – seems like common sense. The tire with the cracked rim is completely flat in the driveway now after paying $305.00 for new tires. The tire was actually completely flat the day following my appointment – it went flat overnight.

Now if I can just get my compressor out and get some air in it tomorrow for my appointment that would be the best-case scenario. They actually exacerbated the situation by working on the wheel, but I may also be at fault for not replacing the rim when they told me to last year, you know, it didn't seem broke so I didn't fix it and thought it might get me by for the remainder of time I was going to have the car before getting something else.

The car is one of those sporty little Volvo S60 T6's. It's pretty peppy at 325 HP, and I do like it and will probably keep it for another year or so if I can. It has 152K on it now and I've been doing all the work on it myself since December 2022 when I bought it.

And I'd say that's actually an abbreviated version of everything that's been going on. Not that anyone cares; at times I'm just compelled to write stuff is all.

but is beautiful

Creating statements/phrases that you think might be "quote worthy". This is the most recent one that I've thought of:

"Life is like a perfect dream of overwhelming irony."


And I thought this one up like a couple decades ago:

"Since no thing defines its own creation, it cannot be held responsible for its nature."

I'm thinking I don't have the enthusiasm I once had, or maybe it just varies more. Not sure. Also, where to put really short stories, kind of like poetry, but not really. I don't have many – a few maybe.

And I was thinking about adding a Quoteworthy Quotes thread for creating phrases/statements that are "quote worthy". I'm not sure why I do these things. I just do – OCD.

Things Come & Go


Things come and go
but from where do they come
and where do they go

A single facet of the infinite
manifested in the context
of unbounded diversity

In what time and in what place
does eternity even yield a time
or infinity a place

Another illusion from nowhere
this emergent nothingness
ineffable, but still we write

This individuality
considered as illusion
an extension of the limitless
of the absolute

If alpha and omega be God
then this be the process
which encapsulates these

A dream from nothing
of God itself
further perpetuated

The Splendor of Spring


If winter be analogy of some lonely barren bone
then spring be the youthful embrace of rebirth;
the majesty that sits upon seasons' throne

Forming future vistas of valleys afar
and of the glorious sights that will be;
the mountain tops that were once summited
where souls were set free

Avians adorn the treetops high
in preparation of nestled retreat,
anticipating the birth of suckled siblings nigh;
with a gifted grace one day they will rule the sky

While critters below retreat their solitude of surrender
poking their heads from seasonal abodes
prelude to initial scurry amongst the barren land
many uniting together from long lost slumber
akin to some mischievous little band

Botanicals begin breaking barriers for a sneak peak
these emeralds of emergence while all slowly turns green
this divine collective hosting of sights,
the initial, and the pending of those yet to be seen

All gather as symphony adhering strict composition
this chorus of harmonies never failing tradition
as beginning choir all gathered together to sing
to sing a song that is called
the splendor of spring

Beauty


The beauty of creation
adorned

In silence and solitude
ugliness mourned

Pleasing aesthetics
abound
even in the sound

Much that thee
did afford

The endless sights
to see
approaching infinity

All that is, to be
by thee
adored
