You've put an idea into my head.  I may make a chocolate cake this evening.

I bought myself a proper plain white cotton baker's apron a week ago and it hasn't been christened yet.  It's been hanging hopefully on a hook by the kitchen door, reproaching me every time I walk by and ignore it.

Whilst looking for it on the web i was horrified to find that merely adding a name would have pretty well doubled the price.  Not that I needed/wanted a name on there.

But maybe if I ever get seriously forgetful I'll write my name on there, upside down, so I can look down and read it if I ever find myself wondering 'Who's that daft old sod in my kitchen?'  Could I ever get that forgetful?  Possibly.  I've seen off-duty nurses giving a puzzled look at their wristwatch after spending a lifetime looking at the upside down watch hanging on the front of their uniform.

I find it quite plausible that I may one day still instinctively remember recipes and procedures from the last century but be a little unsure who I am.

I've been Gyppo for so long now that if I decide I need an aide memoire I may write that on there first, with my 'Sunday name' in brackets.

It really is all about the novelty. In a world where everything is right at one's fingertips, there is little left to excite. Want to see the Taj Mahal, pull it up on the web. Want to see the Grand Canyon, ask Google. However, when seen in person, all one can say is that the pictures don't do it justice.

So the rare bird that alights on the bird feeder is more interesting. Frankly, I think all male birds are more interesting with their bright plumage. Female birds are just duller. They don't need to show off to attract a mate.

How can we encourage healthy behavior? No matter how much we natter on about bad food, sedentary life styles, smoking, or licit or illicit drugs (including alcohol), they all remain popular. With so many people suffering the consequences of their bad habits, why don't the bad habits change?

I didn't know there still was a fur industry. Fakes are so believable, and cheaper. But I'm not sure what COVID would have to do with this as the tanning process is germ killing.

I prefer cotton stuff. Or synthetic crap.

Bones, I could use a nice freshly brewed cup of coffee.

And some sugar free, carb free, chocolate cake.
