Queen Biscuit Flower Hour

I saw them plain as day,
lounging around,
laughing at some crack
made by Uncle Jack
who played the dog-house bass.
May. the fiddler, tittered;
her rejoinders always fell flat,
the studio audience applauded
anyway. Good Gadfrey
made fun of his sponsors,
sang their theme song off-key.
Radio was to TV
what reading Ann of Green Gables
was to the movie
which ruined my inner truth--
still, there's poetry.
