No Critique- Silver Anniversary Poem I Wrote for My Husband
« on: December 14, 2018, 03:08:21 PM »
To the Love of My Life on Our Silver Anniversary
~ * ~
Silver threads hold us together
on a journey of silver roads.
Spared the silver bullet
we raced a silver train
and passed silver mines as we
drove through the Silver State
in a silver Nissan Sentra,
funded by a pickle jar full of saved tips of silver-colored coins.
We won some silver dollars
though not a silver bar.
Neither of us born with silver spoons,
nothing handed to us on silver platters
we don’t even own a complete set of silverware.
My foot too wide for silver slippers
no silver spurs on my boots.
Odd that silver fish exist without water (had to throw that in).
You bought me antique, silver jewelry in Yellowstone
from a silver tongued saleswoman.
We laughed and cast a shadow of keys, tossed in the air, onto a silver screen.
We camped under a silver-wood tree.
Got lost for hours on a logging road 'shortcut' in search of Silver Falls.
The years have passed like quicksilver
I still love to run my fingers through your now silver hair.
As a girl I wished upon a silver star for a true love
and on our Silver Anniversary I wish I had another lifetime to love you.

The word, silver, is used 25 times in the body of the poem to commemorate the twenty-five years.

Lovely. I've duly 'kudos'-ed you in response. Thanks for the wonderful read and for letting me share a sliver of your life.

Thank you so much Granda. I used the word, 'Silver' 25 times in that poem to commemorate our 25 years together.

I saw that and guessed. I countered with a 'sliver'.  ;D
