I did get rid of many of my books. I donated them to the library before we moved south. I still have some bookcases overflowing and a Kindle full of books and then I still go to the library. So, I still have some around to comfort me.
Imperfect Reason My thoughts, such as they are.

A periodic cull to thin the numbers is okay, especially if they go back into circulation via a library or secondhand book shop.  But to throw them our merely so as to expose the walls and make a room look bigger is insanity.  The start of a slippery slope

If you get a taste for empty-walled minimalism the inevitable next step is to start knocking out the internal walls to make fewer but larger rooms.  Eventually your house will collapse and you'll end up sleeping in a shack in the garden, or perhaps even just a bivvy-bag.

Books don't like being referred to as 'clutter' and they will have their revenge.

Now there's a thought...  What if books are another life-form sharing our world?

What do you mean "What if..." ?

Books are a life form, their stories live in our imaginations as we read them.   ;D

Sorry to have gone MIA, but I'm back again. For now.
Drinks are on me tonight.
Bones, I'll have a Martini, please.

Cosmopolitans? I thought that was a magazine - usually with a gorgeous lady on the cover. No?

Culling books is sad work.

Ah, a cocktail. That explains it. Not too fond of cocks. Or tails. ;)

So, are you moving soon then?

Strangely nor am I but they were rather refreshing I must say

That is the plan mate, I do want to move, the selling market has slumped so I have to consider that now

House prices seem to be going down here now, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Not as long as you don't want or need to sell anyway.
