Thinking I'm much younger than I am---much younger. Then I remember....

Realising I needed a little step stool to comfortably drill two holes just below the top edge of my office door.

I was fitting two hooks to hang a flip chart. Having shrunk a couple of inches I could no longer guarantee that I was holding the drill properly straight and level.  Standing on tiptoe isn't the best way to use power tools.

Don't pack it in if you still enjoy it, just pick your battles ;-)

I have to say that regular three monthly blood tests following the removal of my cancerous prostate serve to remind me of my mortality.

But my desire to go outside and beat the crap out of the council grass-cutter who is needlessly slaughtering a lovely crop of daisies and buttercups reassures me that i'm still a long way from dead ;-)  'Only doing my job' wasn't an adequate defence at the Nuremberg trials either.

I took ski lessons in Montana this February. I've only been three other times. I was so afraid I'd break something, I'd sit on my butt before an impending fall. I still like to go fast though. I didn't want the doctor bills or to deal with the longer than ever before, recuperation following an injury.

I've gone from balls out, no fear, to no balls, fear everything.

I'm calling it maturity and good sense.  :P

Trying to get out of bed in the morning only to discover that your back doesn't want to cooperate at all.  ::)

My youngest Stepson called round to see me last week. He was a week or two shy of his third birthday when I first met him. He's 44 in five weeks' time, with an 11 year-old lad of his own.

His older brother is even worse, born two weeks after I joined the Army, he's two and a half years south of 50... :o
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - open throttle in the other -
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming : "Woo Hoo, what
a ride!"

Clearing out long-stored crap 'items' with a friend and the teenager who calls me Mum... when one of us adults finds a box of cassette tapes and said teenager exclaims in surprise "what IS that?"  ;D

Just wait till your teenager grows into an adult and you don't have a clue as to what she's saying most of the time. I swear, sometimes it's like they speak a different language!  ;D

I have now done the maths and figured out how many of my co-workers that I am old enough to have fathered.
The cool thing about writing what you know is that you can always know more.

Thanks. That made me realise I'm old enough to be a granddad. Which actually I wouldn't mind being, but since I'm not, it's kind of a depressing thought.
