When the moon turned blue (A pragmatic look at metaphors)
« on: February 21, 2021, 05:06:22 PM »
When the moon turned blue
I assumed it was trouble with my eyes.

When the cows came home I fed them
and went to bed.  No problem.

When one of the cows jumped over the moon
I figured drink was involved, and
either me or the cow had a skinful.

When I reached the bottom of the  glass
I poured another one

When pigs flew
I shot bacon on the wing.

When hell froze over
I strapped on my skates.

When the world ends
I'll die.  (You can't win 'em all.)

Initially, you got some contemplation and a chuckle out of me.

A delightful, if not a cheeky bit, assuming I'm using the word, cheeky, correctly.

Do you think the granddaughter is rubbing off on you, Gyppo, or has it been too long since I've read John's writing?   ;)

Skating over frozen Hell. What a thought.  :)

Alma is reminding me of who and what I am ;-)  I've never truly forgotten, but sometimes you can lose touch a bit ;-)

Kids are great at reminding us who were are and bringing us back to the wonder of childhood.

One of my favorite things in the world is that wide-eyed, "Ah-ha!" moment on a child's face when a child realizes, absorbs, or discovers something for the first time. It's the best.

I'm sure you are making the most of your time together.
