Congrats on quitting, Frank. That's a big deal health-wise.

They say it takes seven weeks to learn a new good habit, but only two to learn a bad one.

Saying 'no thanks' is a habit like everything else.

Here's something to think about, Frank.  When turning down an offered ciggie don't say, "Sorry, I don't smoke."  It sounds apologetic, almost half-hearted and those who have known you previously as a smoker will feel they have carte blanche to keep offering when they 'flash the ash' in a social setting.

Don't tell people 'I'm quitting', because that sounds like a work in progress, subject to possible change.  "I've quit!" is positive, and is a reaffirmation.

Having white-knuckled my way away from alcohol over forty years ago I know how powerful habit can be.   Both good and bad.

Go for it.

People are more likely to bum a smoke than they are to offer one.I just say I quit, simple as that

I remember I quite for 9 months before a burglary got me Chainsmoking...Mind you,I should've dealt with stress in a more constructive manner ..

Unfortunately beer and tobacco go hand in hand,so I've drastically cut back on the booze

My dad was a chain smoking alcoholic. Well, he really lit far more cigarettes than he smoked. Set them in the ashtray and they would burn half way before he took another drag.

But with that example growing up, I opted to neither smoke nor drink. I imagine I have saved a significant amount of money with those choices, have better breath and breathing, and stumble far less frequently. So not a totally bad choice. People don't always know what to do with me at parties, but that may not have much to do with my habits or lack of them.
Imperfect Reason My thoughts, such as they are.

My dad quit smoking when I was seven, or eight or something thereabouts. But the way he tells it, he never actually quit smoking. He just kept postponing the next cigarette, until he simply didn't feel any need to smoke anymore.
He does like a good glass of wine every now and then, but he's never been drunk.

I never smoked, and followed my father's example about the drinking. I absolutely enjoy a good glass of wine every now and then, but have never been drunk. I've seen enough drunks, and was never impressed with what I saw, so I figured it just wasn't worth it.

I do drink a significant amount of coffee. So I'm not completely pure as the driven snow.

I never drink coffee. Unless it's Irish, but then it needs to be more Irish than coffee, tbh.  ;D

I'm drinking hot chocolate right now. Lots better than coffee.

And here I am again. Eating a lovely, decadent Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Now that's what I call a win.

Karamel Sutra Core. One of the few gluten-free flavours.
I used to really, really love strawberry cheesecake, but that one is not GF, so I can't have that anymore. Ah well, Karamel Sutra Core is a worthy alternative, so I'm not complaining.

Karma Sutra:  A illustrated book showing all the bizarre ways and doubtless illegal ways  in which Boy George had sex with his Karma Chameleon.

I love Karamel Sutra, it's my favorite! I'd even choose it over Gyppo's naughty book. :)
