I have one mean neighbor and one neighbor I've spoken to once. That's the two houses on either side of mine.

I used to live in a duplex. That was pretty close together.

I'm glad we moved, we lived close in the other property, not here, so so love the space

I can't even imagine what that would be like. In the Netherlands, all you get is close Well, there's some stretches of land where you could almost think you're really out in nature, but then you hear the traffic of a nearby motorway. That's just the way it is here.

I grew up in a neighborhood built around a lake. There were maybe 60 houses, one narrow road, and nothing but cricket sound at night. I prefer the city, now. I like having people around and I find the sound of traffic comforting.

I've always lived in the suburbs and am not a real fan of traffic. I'm not so unfond of the traffic itself, just all the traffic with the sirens. There seems to be a lot of sirens that go along with the traffic.

I grew up in The Hague, but have been living in the east of the country for most of my life. Small towns, villages, and now in one of the major towns in the east. In probably one of the quietest neighbourhoods. There's not even any shops in my neighbourhood. Just homes. Some terraces, some apartments, some detached houses. Not much else.

My 'get up and go' got up and went at some point today.  It just sneaked out and never even said goodbye.

I've left the door open so it can get back in if it's not too senile to find its way home.

Maybe you could leave a treat for it outside, to lure it back.  ;)

My neighbour's hedgehogs would probably eat it.  She has several which visit her garden regularly, and some which nest in her shed during the winter.

Only recently she had a little entrance cut at the bottom of her garden gate to make it easier for them to get in.

Yesterday, with the light evenings, she left her french windows open later than usual and came back in from the kitchen to find a hedgehog snuffling around in the middle of her living room carpet.  She wrapped it in a towel to take it back out.

I was used to seeing hedgehogs at the house but we never had one come indoors.  Mind you, there were two steps to climb at each door there.   The bungalows have a flat door sill to make them elderly/wheelchair friendly.

Hedgehogs are cute. We used to get lots of them back when we lived in the "far east". They also are enormous flea bags.

I've read that some people keep on or two as indoor pets, which doesn't seem right to me even if you look after them and feed them well.  The people who do this treat them as would treat a cat to get rid of the fleas.

There was a 'slightly crazy'woman who lived down the road from us who  used to hand feed a fox which came into her garden.  She said it came into her house in occasion if she was late feeding it.

This just seems totally wrong to me.  Leaving food out for them is one thing, but turning a wild animal into a pet will take away its perfectly reasonable wariness of humans.

The way I see it 'urban' foxes are to be enjoyed if you happen to see them wandering around, not treated as pets.

My Sis has a vixen which regularly passes through her garden in the morning or evening, but rarely lingers.  On one occasion however. much later in the morning, it jumped up, via the fence, onto her shed roof and was looking around and calling out before jumping down and streaking through a neighbour's garden.  Later they saw her again with a young cub, walking back along the top of a fence, en route to the 'bypass' through Sis's garden.  We assumed the youngster had become trapped or lost and she was out in full daylight looking for it.

We had a couple of days like that last week.  Just a dull grey all day long.  Hell of a contrast to the sun we've been getting.

If it gets to be too much I close the curtains and put the lights on. Treat it like a winter evening ;-)
