So what do you put in your Martinis?

I've been known to drain a jar of olives, make a martini (vodka, not gin) and pour that over the olives in the jar and then just have delicious olives for a while.

I hate licorice and anise and all that nasty stuff.

Nothing of course. Why would I want to change anything to something that's already perfect?

Ha! I knew there'd be at least one liquorice hater here.

And hating anise as well? So I presume you don't like Chai Tea either?

I could have sworn I posted summat on here a couple of days back, but can't find it. Oh well, never mind, I'll just relax on this podium for a while.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - open throttle in the other -
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming : "Woo Hoo, what
a ride!"

I don't like chai tea. Is there licorice in that crap? I didn't know why I didn't like it, but I don't. I've tried to, but it is just nasty.

I don't tolerate cilantro, either.

I got sucked into buying a 2 year old bottle of wine for $20, went online and realized that it was worth only $16 >:(

Surely you should judge a wine by taste and how good it made you feel, not what it cost.

I have very fond memories of some very cheap wines and the company which went with them.

But perhaps if you can brood over $4 it wasn't that good either ;-)

The wine was fantastic...

Had I known the actual price I'd have only paid $5...stolen liquor is 50%  off :(

Nope. No liquorice in Chai tea. But definitely anise. I love it.

Cilantro? That would be coriander, right. Love that too.

There is apparently some genetic reason for the cilantro or coriander thing. I have the "I hate this stuff" version of the gene but neither of my kids do.

Tastes can definitely vary wildly within a family.  I made a 'seed cake' a while back (caraway seed),something which I always used to enjoy when my Gran made it.  I still enjoyed it, and my Eldest lass dutifully finished her slice.  She made that telling comment though, "I wouldn't turn it down if there was nothing else on offer, but it wouldn't be my first choice."

But she asked for a second slice of the plain 'farmhouse cake' made from the first unseeded half of the same mix.  She said the texture had something to do with it as well, "All those little seeds make it feel a bit funny."

My preferred taste is chocolate. So is my younger son's. Older "kid" doesn't care very much about it and never really has.

One of my daughters doesn't like sweets of any kind, not even cakes. I have questioned if she is mine or adopted

Well, Chick, we've got something in common there. My preferred taste also happens to be chocolate. And FF, my daughter is like that too, doesn't care for sweet at all. Not even as a child.

I think those non sweet lover kids are infested with alien parasites. That's the only way I can figure this out. Aliens. It has to be aliens.
