Tried to do something along the lines of my Time piece from last year but I wasn't feeling the love for this and ended up with sort of a disaster.
It's not my only entry for today.

Lines

You can go above the line
but do not go beyond the line.

Line up for line dancing.
Careful not to cross the line
or get out of line
on the dance line.
The music line plays on.

Play Over the Line
get the ball behind the line
to score within
the line in the sand

Underline your timeline.
Tow the line
to be top-of-the-line
with your byline
so your bottom line
isn't borderline.

The airline
on the flight line
keeps a line of sight
until you're first in line.
They watch the skyline
for the tree line.

Property, county, state, and Country line
-dividing lines

Behind the lines
Poverty lines, welfare lines,
lines of refugees
in the line of fire.

Is your fishing line
thicker than your storyline?

Linebackers hold the line
at the 25-yard line
so the other team
doesn’t cross the 100-yard line.
At the goal line
Lineman, wrong sport,
do not hit line drives
check your batting line up

Helplines
and suicide lines,
~safety lines.

In the call line
don't step out of line
or forget your line
unless you want to be a line cook.

If it’s in your line of duty
to be on the front line
avoid the firing line
in the line of fire.

Front of the line
in the drive-through line,
wait for them to extend the sale line.
Call the movie line
to avoid the ticket line.

People stand in the food line
for their bloodline
waiting for the relief line
for someone to throw a lifeline
while the VIP line
and Executive line
line up
to pat each other's bottom line
in the white line.

Take the Short Line
Rail Line
to the end of the line.

At the Alpine line
in the ski lines
and rental lines
to the chair line
to ski down the line
I crashed into the waiting line.

On the party line
they use the same old line
You'll get a busy line
on the telephone line

Line up in a straight line
at the waterline
for a tow line

Sweet Caroline
did too many lines on the mirror
now has lines on her face
a receding hairline,
her hemline is too short
and her browline
is too close to her eye line
but she has a sexy lip line.

Can't get a credit line
in a picket line.
You don't cross this line
least you're outta' line
wanting to step into
the unemployment line.

There is a pipeline
for the gas line
to get you to the finish line.

At the bar, I stood in the bathroom line
where I watched a solid line
became a double line,
then a broken line.
I walked in a crooked line,
back to my seat.

Color outside the lines
with poetry lines
using a chalk line
write about experiences
on a zipline

Congratulations!
I've thrown you a line,
you've reached the end of the line.

I'm at the end of the line in more ways than one.

Slippery Slope

Abandon all hope of allegiance
like black ice on a bridge over a river in
                           Winter’s subzero freeze
Propell into a tailspin after the blizzard
weatherproof your treads
or skid off, out of control.

This one fell out in pieces - like so many things, plus, it's never been done before.  ;)

Darts

You are not blind,
but refuse to see.
You are perfectly mobile but
too obstinate to move-
able-bodied and stuck.
You can hear but do not listen.
Mindreader tells me
how I feel and think
What do you think of this?
It simmers, like your anger
burns, scars, and
has a stench that lingers.

We have tools
but you are too pig-headed
to use them,
preferring to sling darts
destroy, poke holes,
never focused on the mend,
just the ripping apart.
Is it too much trouble?

We do not have to be broken
together or apart.
I could sit here
in the crosshairs of your barbs
staving off couch potato atrophy
feeling less than,
as if
I am
to blame.

You planted a seed,
let it grow for years
and cannot fathom
how a carcass remains.
Bones can nurture the garden over time
with kindness, respect, and love.

Without those elements,
a marriage deteriorates.
You wrap yourself up proudly
and stubbornly in your misery,
wear it like a suit of amour.
Cold, hard, and polished
with too much space between us.

Time for some levity - another draft.

Snoozin'

I dreamt of tabby
with fuzzy, rainbow-colored whiskers
handing out business cards
to hot dogs (canines)
on the beach boardwalk
during a boring walk
to hush the puppies.

The Dalai Lama
sat in my kitchen
drinking sweet tea with a dragon
speaking with a southern accent.
I gave them some corn to shuck
and asked them to do a shuffle in C
with me.

At the aquatic auditorium
under the bridge,
baritone amphibians amplify
their amorous ambitions.

My neighbor was weeding
his yard in a fishbowl.
Someone else’s toothpaste
was on your toothbrush
after you tasted food with
someone else’s taste buds.
Next thing I know, I'm
throwing down suds with my buds
expanding high expression.

On a corner in a town,
by the Highway to Hell,
a moose on a Harley
in a Bullwinkle helmet
with squirmy squirrelly friends
riding in a sidecar
elbowing for justice
drove by singing rounds.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
life is but a scream.

Ms. Nomer

I lied yesterday.

I did.

About snakes

to three complete strangers.

I mislead them from our sanctuary in the riverbed
like a bird leads predators from its nest by distraction.

As if I were the keeper of the flora and fauna.

It wasn’t a total lie.

We have seen two snakes and two snake skins in five years.

So,
there are snakes.

If I mislead someone for my own gain
that makes me a bad person
but it’s a delicate ecosystem and...

City-slicker, purse dog people couldn’t possibly know –
Well, I saw their car –
no doubt about it –
they weren’t from around here
city-slickers
I saved their pure white purse dog
from a matted mess
Okay,
blatant lie.

I think perhaps
I should feel guilty
but I do not.

Well,

maybe,

just a little.

As Dave pointed out, these are all drafts. I had one about rocks but I'll be damned if I can find it.

If I pursue this, it will eventually have an experience from all or most of the lands at Disneyland California in the 60s.

Magic

Adventure Through Inner Space at Disneyland -
I believed I was shrinking
to be injected into a human body,
on a voyage through the bloodstream.

The scent of cotton candy and hotdogs
lingered on the thick, LA summer air
while we waited our turn at Tomorrowland
for the exhilarating sensation of wonder-travel
through the anatomy of man.

Granny pointed to the miniature humans
funneled through the syringe over our heads and said,
“We are going to shrink to that size in a few minutes.”
Had I known what it meant at the time,
I’d call the anticipation of the adventure, intoxicating
to be a passenger thrust through the veins
floating in platelets,
on magic,
just like in the movies.

On the Jungle Book Safari,
the boat driver with the pith helmet shot the hippo
that unexpectedly popped out of the winding river water.
I cried. "This is the Hippopotamus’ house!"
They don’t pretend to shoot the hippos anymore.
-too many kids from the 60s and 70's
with Jungle Book Safari PTSD.

Frontierland,
the most magnificent treehouse built at the time,
Disneyodendron semperflorens grandis,
home of the Swiss Family Robinson.
I looked for places to hide
so I could stay the night and visit
with the characters of the Magic Kingdom
after the crowds went home.

In the Magic Kingdom
children enchanted by fairy tales and lore
are tricked into thinking
giant stuffed animals that look like Goofy,
Pluto, Mickey Mouse, and Minnie Mouse
are real, not humans dressed to impress.

Imaginative kids are fun to mess with
Just ask some of my aunts and uncles.

Before teen rebellion, young adult disillusion,
grown-up cynicism, and suspicions
I thank my lucky stars
that I was one of those kids
who fully believed in the magic.

*I have a S about It's a Small World but not putting it up tonight. It needs more work, like the rest of this.
A note, the song, It's a Small World is the most played song in the world. Have fun with that earworm.  :D

No Savation

Sadness causes lethargy
stagnates itself to sleep.
The evil muse took
the playful muse by the wing,
grabbed their bugout bags,
and said they'd be back
when the marriage is either saved or over.
