Memo to the Following:
« on: October 07, 2019, 08:14:30 PM »
Zeus
Olympus, Mountain Top,

Oden
Asgard, End of Rainbow Bridge,

Yahweh
Burning Bush, Desert Wilderness,

The Hindu Crowd
Amarvatiaka Meru, Varkkunthu, Everest,

Kunitokoachi and Amenominakanushi
9 Fold Cloud Layer, Sun Moon Sea,

please relay this memo to anyone I've missed,

Where have you been?

Haven't you noticed
the rumble of planet crust;

the smell of forest fire and brimstone;

the wandering to and fro, up and down
of the displaced and desperate?

When will you step in?

Why have we worshipped you these many years
if all you plan to do is leave it up to us?

A good question ;-)

I once heard it explained in computer terms when someone asked why we don't get miracles anymore.

In the early days miracles were necessary on an almost daily basis to correct coding errors, or just as spectacular advertising.  But The Supreme Programmer (TSP) was still young and keen to flex his - or her - muscles.  (And probably took a few shortcuts which weren't really clean and repeatable coding.  There may be a good reason why Python code is named after a serpent.)

But after all these years the system is on maintenance only, like older versions of Windows.  TSP is probably still keen on new projects, but expects us to read the old manuals and find the answers for ourselves.

I have whole collections of poems on this topic. I'm no closer to finding the answer.
If you like Bob the Alien he gets a good run out in my NaPoWriMo 2018. Download pdf here: http://www.scribblers-ring.co.uk/downloads/napowrimo_mhh_201804.pdf

It's a real head scratcher isn't it? Not so much why they have gone off to do their thing elsewhere---perhaps in another galaxy--but why we insist on thinking we can depend on them.

Oh Gyppo, I am so techno-challenged I don't get your analogy. But maintenance sounds about right---bring back the steady-state model of the cosmos--self regulating, oblivious of "us".
