And that's the page-proofs for "Kindred Spirits" checked and returned.  Fifteen corrections in 80,000+ words - it must be some kind of a record.  It certainly is for me.

I'm finished with it now - if I've made any howlers that the editor hasn't picked up, they're going to be public knowledge in four months' time.

Better get on with the next one...

Well done. An editor I worked with once told me 15 typos in a printed book are the norm - as if it's an acceptable level of error. I trust your eagle eye has found them all.

Thanks, guys.  It is a bit of a mile-stone - or perhaps more of a burnt bridge.  Either way, it means it's time to move on.

The funny thing - at least, it always strikes me as funny - is that from this point on I feel no particular attachment to the "old" book.  If someone asks the name of it, I struggle to remember.  The front of my mind is entirely occupied with the "new" book, even if it's only a few thousand words long.
